Robredo raises over P1 million for Angat Buhay NGO's funds on its first day
Former vice president Leni Robredo’s fundraising effort, dedicated to finance programs under her non-governmental organization “Angat Buhay,” brought in over P1 million during its launch on July 1.
Robredo, in a Facebook post on Friday night, gave an update on the initiative after the NGO kick off at her Volunteer Center along Katipunan Ave. in Quezon City.
The ex-vice president, now a private citizen-lawyer, expressed gratitude to those who donated P1,068,470 for the Angat Buhay Foundation.
The foundation carries the duly registered corporate name Angat Pinas, Inc., since the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which approved its registration last month, already recognizes an entity named Angat Buhay.
Angat Buhay’s four advocacy areas include food security and health, education, disaster relief and rehabilitation, and community engagement.
“Unang araw pa lang, higit isang milyon na agad ang nalikom natin para sa mga artworks at donations. Maraming, maraming salamat po (On its first day, over P1 million were raised for the artworks and donations. Thank you very much),” Robredo, the chairperson of Angat Buhay NGO, said.
Street and Art Festival marked the two-day launch of the Angat Buhay from July 1 to 2. Donors can get artworks with prices ranging from a minimum of P1,000 to a maximum of P10,000.
Robredo is selling several of the paintings she received from her campaign supporters after she asked permission from them to raise seed money for Angat Buhay, an initiative she started during her six-year term as vice president.
Her Leni 2022 app will also soon be migrated to Angat Buhay app, where donors have three options to contribute: as a regular donor, as a project-based donor, and as donor for the organization’s calamity fund.
The NGO launch served as an event for Robredo’s supporters, artists, and volunteer celebrities, to reunite and work together in support of its advocacy projects.
During her speech, she said she was happy to see her volunteers and private partners because it was like a “reunion.”
“Hindi dapat masayang ‘yung magandang nasimulan natin. Hindi man tayo nagwagi, nagtagumpay pa rin tayo (What we started should not go to waste. We may not have won, but we still triumphed). I am sure lahat kayo (all of you) will agree with us we really started something very, very special during the campaign, at hindi pwede mapupunta sa wala ‘yung ating nasimulan (that what we started will lead to nothing),” the former vice president added.
