Why are Bangladesh students protesting against job quotas?

Violence in Bangladesh has left at least six dead and hundreds injured as students demand reforms to the quota system governing government jobs. The protests were triggered by the High Court reinstating a 30% job quota for families of 1971 war freedom fighters, which was previously abolished in 2018. The Supreme Court has suspended this order, setting an August 7 hearing.
