Famine in Sudan: the head of an NGO blasts the international community

War-torn Sudan is the victim of “the biggest humanitarian crisis on the planet”, Jan Egeland, Director of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), told AFP on Saturday, criticizing the indifference of the international community. Since April 2023, a war has been raging between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. It has claimed tens of thousands of lives and forced more than 11 million people to flee their homes. According to the UN, 26 million people are suffering from acute hunger.
