Father's Day forecast in Portland: Cool and damp

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — With a trough of low pressure hanging out over the PNW, we'll continue to see showery conditions along with cooler temps and cloudy skies as we wrap up our weekend in Portland.

Scattered rain showers look to stay moderate-to-light or spotty throughout Father's Day around Portland.

Your best bet to be out and about or enjoying a Father's Day BBQ with drier skies looks to be mid-morning to noon or later in our evening. So early lunch or late dinners would most likely be best if you want to be outside. However, it's still going to be much cooler than normal for mid-June with daytime highs in the metro area expected to hover around 65 degrees.

Across NW Oregon and SW Washington there is also still a chance of small hail, brief moments of heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning all possible with a 20% chance of thunderstorms on Sunday. The isolated thunderstorm threat is expected to arrive in the afternoon and evening hours.

Temperatures will remain cool through the start of next week.

But we'll start to see big changes in our weather by mid-week as daytime highs are set to return to summer-like conditions. The warmer temps arrive just in time to officially kick-off summer on Thursday.

Keep it locked on KOIN 6 for the latest on your forecast.
