Opinion split on whether Hulk Hogan’s ‘Trump-a-maniacs' speech will help or hurt campaigns

Hulk Hogan’s shirt-ripping antics at the Republican National Convention Thursday caught the eye of party nominee Donald Trump, but experts are divided on whether it will help sway undecided voters and be a boost to Trump’s campaign.

The retired professional wrestler wooed the crowd during his energetic speech, coining the term "Trump-a-maniacs," and garnering boisterous applause. The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin posted on X that the choice to book Hogan for the conference is, “is not dumb politics. At all.”

“A lot of folks will mock Hulk Hogan at the GOP Convention, but mark my words, this will resonate with millions of Americans,” Griffin wrote. “This will live on TikTok, insta, and the meme world.”

Former federal prosecutor and MeidasTouch Network editor-in-chief Ron Filipkowski, however, was unconvinced and scoffed at the speech.

“Drunk Hulk Hogan was a brilliant idea by the Trump campaign,” Filipkowski wrote in an X post. “He really convinced those swing voters.”

“Nothing appeals to suburban female voters like Hulk Hogan and Kid Rock,” remarked X user @jonathanbrandt.

“Keep acting like I don’t know what I’m talking about when I say in explicit terms that wrestling is one of the most influential cultural phenomena of our time,” X user @jonomilo wrote. “Hulk Hogan just cut a promo for Trump like it was 1987, I told you wrestling is real.”
