TRAI proposes new terahertz spectrum for research and trials, includes assignment-exempt bands

TRAI has proposed a new TeraHertz Experimental Authorisation (THEA) for operations in the 95GHz-3THz frequency bands for Indian entities. The initiative aims to foster wireless technology innovation, allowing five-year authorisations at a fee of Rs 1,000. Certain bands will also support automotive radar systems, with direct sale and marketing of experimental terahertz devices permitted.
