According to OKCPD, a suspect, who was later identified as Pace, sideswiped a police car driven by Officer Samuel Flowers before getting out of the car and shooting at Flowers.

Flowers, who was trapped inside the squad car, was able to fire his rifle through the car window and struck Pace.

Both men were treated for minor injuries.

Pace was charged with two counts of shooting with intent to kill, one count of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and one count of threatening an act of violence following his arrest in May 2021.

An Oklahoma County jury found Pace guilty on three of the four charges, returning a not guilty verdict on the second count of shooting with intent to kill.

Pace's sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 4.
