Police seize over 100 pounds of meth during I-5 stop

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Officers said they seized over 100 pounds of crystal meth as well as other drugs during a stop in Linn County south of Albany

According to Oregon State Police, on Aug. 26, a K-9 unit stopped a Chevrolet pickup traveling north near milepost 223.

During the stop, the officer said they recognized "signs of potential criminal activity" which led to them deploying their drug detection K-9.

The K-9 responded to the presence of drugs in the truck which led to a search of the vehicle and the discovery of 105.3 pounds of crystal meth as well as 11 pounds of powder, believed to be fentanyl.

The driver and passenger, both from the Las Vegas area, were arrested for possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine and delivery of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Authorities said they believe the drugs were being taken to the Seattle area.
