It is understood the US trooper died around 5am on Saturday.

He reportedly fell from the roof of the hotel he was staying in the Old Town area.

Emergency services were called to the scene but arrived “too late” to save the man’s life, Proto Thema reports.

Local authorities have been informed about the incident and are currently investigating it, the Greek paper added.

The exact cause of his death is not yet known.

It comes after a tourist allegedly plunged to his death from a five-star hotel in Pattaya, Thailand.

The man, 67, is said to have fallen from the 31st floor of the Grande Centre Point Pattaya Hotel in the early hours of Monday.

Police Captain Chanan Kesornbua said cops received a report shortly after 5am.

Hotel security guards had cordoned off the area using iron sheets as officers arrived at the scene.

The guest reportedly struck the edge of a window before landing on the ground.

Thai cops have since launched a probe into his death.

The official cause of the fall is not yet determined as officers will check CCTV footage.

Police Captain Kesornbua said: “We have taken photos of the scene as evidence.

“As for the cause of the fall, we still have to determine if it was an accident or not.

“We will be checking the CCTV footage.”

The tourist’s body was taken to the Bang Lamung Hospital to be handed over to his family.

Meanwhile, a star gymnast plunged to her death while allegedly taking a selfie at the castle that inspired Walt Disney‘s Sleeping Beauty.

Natalie Stichova, 23, was declared dead six days after she fell nearly 262 feet down Tegelberg Mountain in Bavaria, Germany.

The tragic fall reportedly took place near the picturesque Neuschwanstein Castle, as the Czech athlete was trying to capture the perfect Instagram snap on August 15.

Natalie’s pal told German media she had been standing very close to the edge of the mountain when she slipped while setting up the shot in front of the castle.

The friend, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “She fell from a height of about 262 feet (80 metres).

“We will never find out whether she slipped or whether a piece of the rock edge broke off.”
