Inside, the supermini boasts surprising levels of refinement[/caption]

First introduced by Citroen in 2010, the elegant DS3 quickly became a favourite in the refined supermini segment while competing with the likes of the Audi A1 and the Mini.

Originally launched as the Citroen DS3, the model was rebranded in 2016 when DS Automobiles became a standalone marque.

For many years, the DS3 was offered as a three-door supermini, with an intriguing convertible variant also available, but the second-generation model, released in 2019, evolved into a five-door crossover SUV.

As a hatchback, the DS3 gained significant popularity and was even named Car of the Year by Top Gear in 2010 when it was still badged as a Citroen.

Jeremy Clarkson himself heaped praise on it in a 2011 review.

He said: “The only other car I’ve ever wanted this badly before I drove it was the Aston Martin DB9.”

Despite its high-end feel, the DS3 can still be found at an affordable price in 2024, with Swansway Motor Group currently offering a 2016 model in their inventory for just £6,195.

They said: “For those who want a hatchback that blends luxury with performance, the DS Automobiles DS3 1.6 BlueHDi Ultra Prestige is an exceptional choice.

“This stylish hatchback, finished in Polar White, exudes elegance from every angle.”

The DS3 is ideal for city driving, balancing its compact size with plenty of comfort

The interior is particularly impressive, with the car experts highlighting it as “adorned with premium materials, ensuring a plush environment for every journey.”

Additionally, the diesel engine in this DS3 model promises low running costs and excellent fuel efficiency, making it a practical choice.

Today, the DS3 is available in petrol, diesel and electric versions, with the EV model branded as “E-Tense.”

The might of Stellantis

Stellantis, one of the world’s largest car manufacturers, brings together a powerhouse lineup of 14 diverse brands.

There’s Jeep, known for its rugged off-roaders, and Dodge, famous for its muscle cars. Chrysler offers everyday American saloons and minivans, and Ram delivers capable trucks and vans.

On the European front, Peugeot, Citroen, and Opel/Vauxhall cater to a wider audience with their versatility and style.

There’s plenty of Italian charm too, with evergreen Fiat alongside the class of Alfa Romeo, while Maserati stands for performance and exclusivity.

DS Automobiles represents French luxury and innovation, Lancia is an iconic brand with a focus on cool, and Abarth brings a sporty edge to Fiat’s small cars.
