You Can Rent Prince's 'Purple Rain' House on Airbnb

Prince's legacy has touched every corner of the globe, but the love for the hit-making rock star is most evident in his hometown of Minneapolis. Now, you'll be able to experience a piece of his legendary career for yourself from morning through the night.

Starting Oct. 2, Prince fans from all over the world can stay in the iconic house where Prince's character in his beloved movie Purple Rain lives. Located at 3420 Snelling Avenue in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis, the home is a piece of living history both on the outside and the inside. And soon, it'll be open for one-night stays via Airbnb

The home was bought by Prince in 2015 and is listed on Airbnb with Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman, a.k.a. Wendy & Lisa from Prince's band The Revolution, as the hosts. The engagement is limited to 25 overnight stays over seven weeks from Oct. 26 to Dec. 14 and is being done in celebration of Purple Rain's 40th anniversary this year.

"Purple Rain is the greatest movie of all time. This is not opinion, this is fact. Now, 40 years after the movie’s release, we’re bringing it back to life," the duo said in their listing. "Not only did we lock down The Kid’s unforgettable childhood home, but we also restored the interior to a new level of glory. The whole place is a tribute—nay, a shrine—to both the movie itself and the moment in time that launched Prince into the stratosphere. Because you can’t talk about one without the other."

"Not to brag, but we really outdid ourselves," they continued. "The place is jammed with epic memorabilia that will give you a rare perspective into Prince’s creative process during his Purple Rain era—through the eyes of two people who lived through it (us!)."

According to The Associated Press, relics like outfits worn by Prince are displayed behind glass. There's even some other fabulous looks you can try on yourself. "What guests will be able to do themselves is actually play around with a selection of really iconic '80s outfits and looks and styles that they can kind of engage their inner rock star themselves," Airbnb spokesperson Ali Killam said. "It really is meant to immerse you in The Kid’s world."

You can request a booking between Oct. 2 at 6 a.m. PT and Oct. 6 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Guests will then be chosen at random and those with the best answers for why they want to stay there will get a spot at the living museum.
