WATCH: Rishabh Pant hits Pat Cummins for JAW-DROPPING six in Perth Test
Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant came out to bat with India reeling on 32/3. Though he came during quite a tense situation, Pant didn’t fail in entertaining the crowd at Optus Stadium with his incredible shots.
The 27-year-old departed after scoring 37 runs off 78 deliveries, a knock which included 3 boundaries and an incredible six. Pant was the player who smashed India’s first six of the match and the way he hit the ball was nothing short of mesmerizing.
In the 42nd over, it was Australian skipper Pat Cummins who took up the ball with his main objective being dismissing Pant and breaking the developing stand between the wicketkeeper-batter and debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy. The first delivery of his over however, would sail over the boundary as Pant opened the over in spectacular fashion.
Pant lost his balance completely while playing the shot and fell to the ground, but there was enough power in his shot that the ball crossed the boundary line and added 6 valuable runs to India’s tally.
Cummins would eventually get Pant’s wicket in the 46th over as the wicketkeeper-batter ended up edging the ball to Steve Smith, who was standing at the second slip.
Pant was the second-highest scorer for the Indian team behind Reddy, who played a decent knock of 41. In the end, India would only be able to post a total of 150 runs in the first innings before getting bundled out by the Aussies.
The pacers picked up all the wickets with Josh Hazlewood being the stand-out performer with 4 scalps alongside Mitchell Starc, Cummins and Mitchell Marsh who got 2 scalps each.
