11/22/2024: More on and off showers, mountain snow

The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:

More scattered showers today as a big area of low pressure continues to churn away to our south. While it won't be as consistent or heavy as Thursday, it will be a damp and dreary finish to the work week.

In the Catskills, it is cold enough that much of this additional precipitation will be snow or a rain snow mix. Some mountain towns in Greene and Ulster counties have already seen around a foot of snow! So totals will continue to climb, but not dramatically. Parts of the Adirondacks are cold enough for snow, but they're on the edge of the storm system and everything looks much lighter up there as a result.

For much of the rest of our area, on and off rain showers through Saturday morning. The Green Mountains and high spots in the Berkshires could see light snow accumulations when temperatures drop late tonight and early Saturday. We then dry out for the rest of the weekend. That being said, it will be chilly and quite windy at times with highs in the 40's.

Monday is a mostly quiet day, but clouds developing that evening could give way to showers on Tuesday.

Wednesday is also quiet locally - great news for pre-Thanksgiving travel. Turkey Day itself looks a bit less nice, with temperatures in the 30's from start to finish and widespread rain and snow showers across the region.
