The two domestic rivals are once again negotiating a fight, following in the legacy of their fathers.

With Conor Benn having recently had his UK suspension lifted, and with the expectation that he’ll regain his boxing license in short order, there are already ongoing talks to re-stage a domestic showdown against rival Chris Eubank Jr. Both Benn and Eubank were set to fight in late 2022 before the fight was nixed over Benn testing positive for a banned substance.

It’s been a long road back for Benn in that regard, but he now believes he’s been vindicated and looks to pick up where he left off in terms of a big British fight that can capture the attention of the public.

Promoter Benn Shalom talks to Sky Sports and says negotiations for a February fight are already underway and has confidence that it will come together given that both fighters are intent on making it happen.

“We are moving closer to a deal. Chris wants the fight next, and I believe Conor does too. The fight is there to be made. There are positive talks and assuming Conor gets his license back, it should happen next,” Shalom told Sky Sports.

“It’s not just about family legacy. There’s genuine animosity now. It’s the biggest fight in British boxing. It could sell out any stadium in the country and I believe it will happen in the UK.”

Despite the difference in weight between the fighters, Benn has conceded that he’ll have to fight Eubank at 160 lbs if he wants any chance of the fight happening, along with A-side treatment to Eubank for top billing and the second walk out.

If for some reason the Eubank fight can’t be made, Benn is then hoping to get a shot at the WBC welterweight title by challenging Mario Barrios.
