I’ve been slammed as greedy for filling my freezer with half-price meat for Christmas with four kids, I’m sick of it

A MUM has hit back at nasty trolls who claim she’s greedy for stocking up on half-price meat.

Tracey King, from Kent, took to social media to show off her haul of goodies, but it seemed not everyone was impressed.

One wrote: “Clearly not thinking about the next customer… pure greed.”

Tracey responded saying: “Right. I’m not getting into a war over meats again.”

“Why do you think it’s okay to write on my video, to a grown woman with four children and grandchildren, and call me greedy for being prepared for Christmas?”

Speaking exclusively to Fabulous, the mum added: “I had so many disgusting comments on buying meat for my family.”

Tracey explained she had four children and two grandchildren to feed over Christmas so naturally takes advantage of deals where she can get pricey meat joints for less money.

And she was quick to hit back at nasty trolls in her comment section, saying: “Some of them are grown women with lips pumped up, fag in their mouth, alcohol in the other hand.

“I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I spend my money on food.

“To me this is preparing for Christmas like I’ve always done ever since I left home.”

Tracey also revealed that she always lets people know on social media when she’s spotted the deal so others can grab bargains too.

“My priority is feeding my family,” she insisted.

“That makes me greedy for buying meat, pathetic.”

The clip was posted on her TikTok account @traceywinter1 and went viral with over 134k views and 3,000 likes.

People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments and many people supported Tracey.

One person wrote: “Well said I do the same when anything is on offer it’s called being money savvy .”

Another commented: “I don’t call it greedy I call it organised.”

“Who wouldn’t go and stock up when they’re all half-price?! I do the same every year,” penned a third.

How to save money on your supermarket shop

THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop.

You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they’ve been reduced.

If the food is fresh, you’ll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.

Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.

This means ditching “finest” or “luxury” products and instead going for “own” or value” type of lines.

Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.

For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.

If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.

Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “I do the same Tracy I like it when you tell us the meat is on offer thank you.”

“I do this all the time, it’s smart thinking,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Honestly if I could do this I would love the idea of it all.”
