Pens Points: Not Getting Any Easier
Pens Points has all the news from Monday including a trade as the Penguins head into a tough stretch of games.
Tuesday will be another day off for the Pittsburgh Penguins before they take on perhaps their toughest week of the season thus far. If the Penguins are to try and right the ship even a little before the calendar hits December, they will have to run a gauntlet of the Canucks, Bruins, and Flames which round out November.

Some trade news out of Pittsburgh on Monday. While nothing big like many may have been waiting for, the Penguins did acquire former first round pick Philip Tomasino from the Nashville Predators for a 2027 4th round pick. [Pensburgh]
If it weren’t already bad enough for the Penguins at the moment, Wednesday night begins a brutal stretch of schedule, starting with a battered Vancouver Canucks team that in reality may be the Penguins best odds of a win any time soon. [Pensburgh]
There does not appear to be a quick fix for the Penguins to get them back on track this season, and in fact, it might be a years long rebuild until the Penguins can even think about contending once again. [Sportsnet]
If the Penguins are to get Owen Pickering some worthwhile experience at the NHL level, perhaps it’s time to bump up his ice time which remains among the lowest on the team through Saturday’s game against Utah. [The Hockey News]
If Mike Sullivan’s seat is hot among the Penguins fan base it has not seemed to carry over to the actual decision makers within the franchise and no change to the head coach seems imminent despite the struggles. [Sports Illustrated]

There could be major changes coming to the New York Rangers in the near future if the team’s fortunes don’t improve. New reports state that captain Jacob Trouba and Rangers lifer Chris Kreider may be on the trade block. [Sportsnet]
