Surprising supermarket selling Celebrations tubs for cheaper than Asda and Tesco
A SURPRISING supermarket is selling Celebrations tubs for cheaper than both Asda and Tesco.
The UK’s fifth largest retailer is offering the discount on the chocolate selection until December 27.
This comes as more Christmas favourites have become victims of shrinkflation, where their size has shrunk but their price has stayed the same or even gone up.
While it used to be a giant 975g back in 2008, Celebrations tubs in 2024 weigh in at just 550g.
Co-op has reduced the price of Celebrations from £5.50 to just £4.50 for most of December.
This places it a whopping 25% cheaper than both Asda and Tesco, who are selling it for £6.
Other rivals such as Morrisons and Iceland too share the £6 price tag, although Asda is offering a deal of £9 for two tubs.
Aldi is currently retailing the popular tubs at a very similar price of £4.49.
Also, it should be noted that the Co-op’s price is only available for its members.
To secure the deal, make sure to scan your membership card when you make the purchase.
If you’re not currently a member, signing up is easy and costs just £1.
This gives you access to all their lower prices in stores for members as well as personalised offers.
Co-op membership also gives you access to discounts across all its brands, including insurance, funeral care, and legal services.
You can either join online, via the Co-op app, or instore.
Just last month, Sainsbury’s reduced the price of Quality Street and Celebrations across its UK stores for its nectar card holders.
A 600g tub of Quality Street normally costs £6 but Nectar card holders could grab them for just £3.95.
Sainsbury’s had also reduced its 550g Celebrations tubs to just £3.95 as part of the deal too but this huge saving is no longer available.
However, Nectar card holders can still grab the selection boxes for £4.50 if they show their card at purchase.

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.
Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.
Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.
Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.
They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.
Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.
So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
