Spurs could be a ‘nice next step’ for Premier League winger – Jaap Stam says

Former Manchester United centre-back Jaap Stam has advised one Dutch winger to join Tottenham as the next step in his career.

Most Spurs fans expect Tottenham to have a challenging outing at Vitality Stadium tomorrow, with Bournemouth having been one of the surprise packages of the Premier League so far this season.

Andoni Iraolo’s side has a lot of talented attackers who can hurt the opposition and one of the players that Spurs should be wary of is Justin Kluivert.

The Dutchman’s stock has risen steadily since his move to the South Coast 18 months ago and he is now one of the form players in the division, having found the back of the net five times in 13 league matches this season.

Jaap Stam gives transfer advice to Justin Kluivert

Stam, who has followed Kluivert’s career closely since he came through the ranks at Ajax, believes that the Netherlands international may be ready to make a step up from Bournemouth.

The former Man Utd named Tottenham as the ideal next destination for the former AS Roma man.

When asked if Kluivert is ready to move to a bigger club, the 52-year-old said on Viaplay podcast, Weijland & Stam (as relayed by Voetbal Primeur): “He could be. A team like Spurs could be a nice next step, I think. Eventually maybe even higher, but if you start looking in steps: he has to hold on to it, of course.

“You have to stay at a certain level then, you have to keep making an impact at the club. Eventually, you will then stand out in the English league.”

Tottenham want Kluivert’s Bournemouth teammate

There has been nothing to suggest that Spurs are after Kluivert, but fellow Cherries winger Antoine Semenyo is thought to be on the Lilywhites’ radar.

It has been widely reported that Bournemouth are keen to hold onto the Ghana international until the end of the season as Spurs circle over him ahead of January.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham will follow up their signing of Dominic Solanke in the summer with another raid of the Iraola’s men next month.
