2 teens arrested, accused of shooting a 17-year-old at a Kyle party in November

KYLE, Texas (KXAN) -- Two teenagers were arrested in Kyle for their alleged involvement in a shooting at a party last month where a 17-year-old was shot in the leg.

According to the Kyle Police Department, the shooting happened in the early morning hours of Nov. 26 in the 400 block of Old Stagecoach Road.

Kyle Police identified one of the suspects as Christian Jeffery, 18, of Kyle. Police said Jeffery is a "documented gang member."

The other suspect is a 17-year-old male, whom police did not name because he was a minor at the time of the incident. In Texas, 17-year-olds are typically treated as adults for criminal justice purposes, according to the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition.

Police also did not release the name of the person who was shot.

Both suspects are facing charges of two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, along with other charges, according to the police department.

KXAN is working on reaching out to attorneys representing the suspects to request a comment on the charges. This story will be updated if we receive a response.

Kyle police said officers responded to reports of shots fired around 12:05 a.m. on Nov. 26 and were initially unable to locate a shooter. Detectives and forensic investigators also responded to the scene and conducted a "thorough investigation," which police said "played a critical role in later identifying the suspects."

Kyle police said officers responded on Wednesday, Nov. 27 to an unrelated call for deadly conduct, where they identified ballistic evidence that matched the previous crime scene.

“It is through the diligent police work of Kyle police officers, detectives, and forensic investigators that the connection between these two incidents was established,” Kyle Police Chief Dr. Jeff Barnett said in a press release.
