Montgomery Co. Constables charge former Austin-area educator with possession of child sexual abuse material
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Montgomery County Constables arrested a former Austin-area educator Thursday morning for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material, according to a press release issued Thursday evening.
Curtis John Locklear, 73, is charged with one count of child pornography, a third-degree felony. KXAN reached out to Locklear for comment on his arrest.
The release describes the Internet Crimes Against Children detective's investigation as "proactive." Constables made the arrest at Locklear's home in The Woodlands.
"Further investigation revealed that Locklear is a retired school principal from the Austin area who has had frequent and prolonged contact with children over the course of his career. He is also a known author and often travels for his work," the release said.
A lieutenant with the Constable's Office said that while investigators learned Locklear worked as a principal in the Austin-area, they are still working to learn which schools. The investigation is also looking to discern if there are any other victims.
KXAN has reached out to the Texas Education Agency about Locklear's employment record.
Locklear is currently held at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Jail on a $300,000 bond.
The constable's office asks for anyone with information about the case, or with knowledge of Locklear's employment, to call 281-364-4711. Those who call should reference case number 24e041427 and ask to speak with the assigned detective.
