Mohammed Siraj causing Pressure on Jasprit Bumrah? Sunil Gavaskar’s observation before IND v AUS 3rd Test
Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar is concerned over the lack of support provided by bowlers for star Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Gavaskar wants Mohammed Siraj to come up and provide Bumrah with some backing and share the workload with him.
Sunil Gavaskar believes that if Siraj fails to contribute significantly, the entire burden of the bowling lineup will be on Bumrah, which will potentially have a massive impact on his performance. While Siraj has taken his fair share of wickets, his performance has not been consistent, which has caused Bumrah to take a massive portion of the bowling responsibilities.
Sunil has called Siraj to come up and contribute in the team’s bowling lineup. He has suggested that Siraj should aim to take two or three wickets, and break some partnerships to relieve stress from Bumrah.
“Mohammed Siraj is a good foil, but he has to start getting five wickets in an innings. Otherwise, the load is being picked up mainly by Jasprit Bumrah. But if Siraj can pick up two, three wickets, keep on breaking partnerships, then he certainly helps Jasprit Bumrah,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
As of now, India will be facing Australia for the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, set to begin December 14 in Gabba, Brisbane. This series is going to be of massive significance for India as the outcome of this series will determine India’s chance to enter World Test Championship (WTC) finals.
