Officers confirmed they were called out due to a “medical matter” on St John’s Road where the boozer is situated.

A 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

A spokesperson for Wetherspoon confirmed she had passed away in the pub’s beer garden after checking out of the hotel facilities.

She had been staying in the Wetherspoon-owned hotel since Sunday but had not been served at the pub today.

The boozer was closed and customers were evacuated until CID allowed punters to return at around 6.30pm.

Witnesses said around six police vehicles and two ambulances attended as the business was locked down for around three hours.

Cops later confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A report will sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
