Kendrick Lamar, Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson topped Portland's Google searches this year

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portlanders have been just as tuned in to pop culture’s fiery rap beef as the rest of the world, according to Google.

The company has released its Year in Search data, which shows users the trendiest searches for 2024 in any given area.

When it comes to the Rose City’s most Googled songs, rapper Kendrick Lamar snagged three of the top five spots with “Not Like Us,” “meet the grahams” and “Euphoria.”

Each diss track further fueled his feud with fellow artist Drake, who recently filed a lawsuit accusing Universal Music Group of artificially inflating the popularity of Lamar’s track “Not Like Us.”

It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in May, and has remained in the charts since then. Google also listed it as 2024’s most-searched song worldwide.

Outside of the upcoming Super Bowl performer’s tracks, Portland’s other trending music searches were Eminem’s “Houdini” and Taylor Swift’s “Tortured Poets Department.”

With the Paris Olympics taking over the summer, Google additionally listed the city’s most-searched Olympians: Simone Biles, Anthony Edwards, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Chiles and Imane Khelif.

Chiles has local ties as a native of neighboring city Vancouver. The gymnast made headlines in August after speaking out against an international sporting court’s decision to strip her of a bronze medal.

Also in the sports world, Google listed this year’s trending matches. For Portland, that was Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Baltimore Ravens, Canelo Álvarez vs Jaime Munguia and the San Francisco 49ers vs Detroit Lions.

The company’s top “near me” searches locally were seeking homeowners insurance, 5-star hotels, drive-in theatres, ballot drop-boxes and life insurance.
