NFL Rumors: Mike Vrabel Has These Coordinators In Mind For Next Job

Mike Vrabel likely will be atop the head coaching cycle this offseason, and it appears he’s operating with that thought in mind.

Vrabel, who’s been a senior analyst for the Cleveland Browns since he was fired by the Tennessee Titans following the 2023 campaign, is getting things situated for his impending staff. That’s noteworthy for any potentially interested team, including the New England Patriots, who might be in need of a new head coach in January.

Appearing on NBC Sports Boston’s “Arbella Early Edition” on Tuesday night, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer shared how Vrabel has “a real idea” of who he wants on his staff.

Vrabel’s two options for offensive coordinator include Tommy Rees, the Browns pass game specialist and tight ends coach, and former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Former Titans director of player personnel Ryan Cowden would be Vrabel’s preference for general manager, per Breer.

Those names could become relevant to the Patriots since Vrabel would be interested in coaching in New England, according to NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran.

A Patriots Hall of Famer, Vrabel could be a perfect fit in New England if Robert Kraft fires first-year head coach Jerod Mayo. It also means Kraft and company could be looking at Cowden replacing Eliot Wolf and either Rees or McDaniels backfilling for Alex Van Pelt.
