Eric Dane's Final Movie May Never Be Released
Hearts of Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria fans broke when Eric Dane's family announced his death from ALS on Feb. 19 at age 53. Dane, who plays the father to Jacob Elordi's character, Nate Jacobs, announced his ALS diagnosis in April 2025, less than a year before his death.
“I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week,” he told People upon the announcement. He was able to finish filming Season 3 of the hit HBO series, which is set to premiere on April 12.
But Season 3 of Euphoria may not be the last time fans of Dr. McSteamy get to see him on screen. There's one final movie he was in that has yet to be released — if it ever will be.
Eric Dane Starred In Thriller 'Family Secrets'
In December 2023, Deadlinereported that Dane was set to star alongside Maia Mitchell, Tyriq Withers, and Thomas Doherty in a thriller flick called Family Secrets. In it, Dane plays a family patriarch who is the target of a vengeful young man who wants to get back at Dane's character by seducing his goddaughter and befriending his son. There are some parallels to Dane's role in Euphoria, where he plays a family patriarch — except he's the one having a nefarious relationship with teenager Jules, played by Hunter Schafer.
Malik Vitthal directed the film. He also directed Body Cam with Mary J. Blige and Nat Wolff. At the time of the report, the film was already in production in Montenegro.
Two years later, there haven't been any more official announcements about the film. But according to IMDb, it's in post-production.
It's possible that the film may never come out. Many indie movies don't ever see the light of day for various reasons — usually financial. But Family Secrets was produced and funded by a company with a decent track record. ACE Entertainment also produced The Unholy Trinity starring Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as All Souls starring Mikey Madison and G-Eazy.
