Armed group abducts police officer in Surigao del Sur

BUTUAN CITY, July 6— A rookie police officer is now a subject of search, after he was reportedly abducted by an armed group believed to be members of the New Peoples’ Army, on Tuesday morning at a hinter village of a southern province in the Caraga region. Reports from Surigao del Sur police identified the recent victim of abduction as Police Officer 1 Richard V. Yu, assigned to Carmen Municipal Police Station, Carmen town, Surigao del Sur. Yu becomes the first victim of abduction by suspected rebels in the region, under the Duterte administration and the new chief Philippine National Police (PNP).
