Armenia denies Azerbaijani claims of ceasefire violations

YEREVAN, August 16. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Defense has denied recent claims made by Azerbaijan that Armenian forces opened fire on Azerbaijani positions in the early hours of Friday./pp

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense claimed that around 03:20 local time, Armenian forces fired towards their positions located in the western part of the border zone. Armenia's defense authorities have stated that these accusations are baseless./pp

In response, the Armenian Ministry of Defense reiterated that the Prime Minister's Office of Armenia had proposed to Azerbaijan, through diplomatic channels, the establishment of a bilateral mechanism to investigate alleged ceasefire violations./pp

The Armenian Ministry of Defense also refuted a similar claim made by Baku on Thursday, where Azerbaijan alleged that Armenian forces fired towards their positions around 18:10 local time, in the southwestern section of the border zone./p br
