Vedi reservoir to be completed in 2025, final work to cost 1.7 billion drams

YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. The construction of the Vedi reservoir in Armenia is in its final stage, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Minister Gnel Sanosyan revealed today./pp “Next year, 1.7 billion drams will be released for testing and commissioning of the facility,” Sanosyan noted at budget discussions in parliament./pp
The Vedi reservoir with a capacity of 29.4 million cubic meters is being built on the right bank of the Vedi River in the Ararat region of Armenia./pp
The cost of the project is 90 million euros, more than 80% of which is financed by the French Development Agency./pp
With the launch of the reservoir, uninterrupted irrigation will be ensured for about 3,220 hectares of land with 5,000 beneficiaries./pp
By switching from mechanical to gravity irrigation, approximately 19 million kWh of electricity will be saved per year, and the need to take water from Lake Sevan for irrigation purposes will be reduced by 18 million cubic meters.-0-/pp nbsp;/p
