Sooners Lead Temple At Halftime

Oklahoma's football team leads Temple 34-0 at halftime at Owen Field in Norman on Friday night.

The Sooners forced the Owls to punt after three downs to start the game.

On OU's first possession, the Sooners marched 76 yards in 7 plays to a touchdown.

Jackson Arnold passed deep to Jalil Farooq for a gain of 47 yards.

Five plays later, Arnold found Bauer Sharp for a 14-yard touchdown and OU led 7-0 with 11:17 to play in the first quarter.

Temple turned the ball over on their second possession.

Ethan Downs forced a fumble by Temple quarterback Forrest Brock, and Da'Jon Terry recovered at the Owls' 43-yard line.

It took OU five plays to convert the turnover into points.

Arnold passed to Deion Burks in the end zone for another 14-yard score and it was 14-0 Sooners with 8:07 to go in the first quarter.

After an exchange of punts, OU got the ball back after another Temple turnover.

Brock had a pass tipped and it was intercepted by Kani Walker, who returned it 10 yards to the Temple 34-yard line.

OU couldn't move it much after the turnover and settled for a 43-yard field goal by Tyler Keltner to take a 17-0 lead with 43 seconds left in the first quarter.

Less than two minutes into the second quarter, on Temple's ensuing possession, the Owls' Dante Wright had the ball knocked out and recovered by Robert Spears-Jennings at the OU 42-yard line.

12 plays later, OU turned the turnover into a 42-yard field goal by Keltner and the Sooners led 20-0 with 8:05 to play in the first half.

After forcing another Temple punt, OU marched to another touchdown, with Arnold passing in the right corner of the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown to Burks, making it 27-0 with 5:28 left in the second quarter.

Late in the first half, Temple was inside their own 10-yard line when Gracen Halton caused a fumble recovered by Billy Bowman at the Owls' 6-yard line.

Two plays later, Arnold passed to Burks for a 5-yard touchdown to put the Sooners up 34-0 with 36 seconds left in the second quarter.

Both teams had to punt on their first possession of the second half.

OU got a 23-yard field goal from Keltner to increase their lead to 37-0 with 7:53 to play in the third quarter.

Temple responded with their first points, a 49-yard field goal by Maddox Trujillo to cut OU's lead to 37-3 with 3:07 to play in the third quarter.

This is the third meeting all-time between the schools and the first since 1942.
