Rain, hailstorms possibility in five Himachal districts; IMD issues yellow alert

Director of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Himachal Pradesh, Surender Paul, said, "The thunderstorms will continue for the next 48 hours in the state. Yesterday, rain and hailstorms were recorded in some parts of Shimla and Kangra districts. Its impact will be on May 12, and some districts like Kangra, Hamirpur, Kullu, and Mandi may receive heavy rainfall."

Where space weather originates

Paris, France (SPX) May 09, 2024 - The Virtual Space Weather Modelling Centre, through a collaborative effort, has developed a simulation that visualizes the initiation of space weather. The model demonstrates the emergence of a flux rope from the Sun's magnetic field, which may carry millions of tons of plasma into space during a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME).

New Electronic Skin Enhances Robot Sensitivity to Human-Level Touch

Los Angeles CA (SPX) May 06, 2024 - Researchers at The University of Texas at Austin have developed an advanced stretchable electronic skin (e-skin) that could potentially give robots and other devices human-like touch sensitivity. Elbit Systems secures $53 million contract for unmanned mortar systems

Paris, France (SPX) May 09, 2024 - Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESLT and TASE: ESLT) has been awarded a $53 million contract to provide Crossbow Unmanned Turreted 120mm Soft Recoil Mortar Systems to General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS). These systems will be mounted on the Pandur 6x6 APC wheeled armored vehicle for a European client. The project is scheduled for completion over a six-year span.
