Mauritius formally accepts Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies

Mauritius deposited its instrument of acceptance of the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies on 13 May, advancing the tally of formal acceptances to 75. Ambassador Usha Chandnee Dwarka-Canabady presented Mauritius’s instrument of acceptance to Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Following consultations with WTO members, the new facilitator of the dispute settlement reform process, Ambassador Usha Dwarka-Canabady of Mauritius, on 14 May reported to heads of delegations (HoDs) how work will proceed in the coming months to meet the commitment to have a fully and well-functioning dispute settlement system by the end of the year. Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Deputy Director-General Angela Ellard expressed optimism over the formalized process and Ambassador Dwarka-Canabady’s leadership.
