Gujarat: FIR against unknown persons for threatening fashion designer over yoga at Golden temple

An FIR has been registered against unidentified individuals for issuing death threats to a fashion designer in Amritsar who performed yoga at the Golden Temple. Designer Archana Makwana refuted allegations of wrongdoing and called for the withdrawal of a complaint by SGPC. Threats via email and social media prompted the FIR. Makwana sought understanding, stating her actions did not intend to offend religious sentiments.

NEET-UG paper leak: CBI makes first arrests in Patna, picks up 2

Central Bureau of Investigation made the first arrests in the alleged NEET-UG paper leak case. The The arrested were identified as Manish Prakash and Ashutosh Kumar, who sheltered the students after leaking the paper. The CBI took over the case on June 24 and started investigating after visiting the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police.

According to Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (Dhamdha) Sanjay Pundhir, Sahu had entered the couple's house in Ahiwara village, Nandini police station area, with the intent to steal early last month. Instead of committing theft, he used his mobile phone to record the couple in an intimate moment. Sahu then demanded Rs 10 lakh from the couple, threatening to make the video public.

South Africa achieved its first primary budget surplus in 15 years as it took a stern approach to funding State-owned companies that have drained government finances. Africa’s most-industrialised economy posted a primary surplus — when revenue exceeds non-interest expenditure — of R31.6 billion or 0.4% of gross domestic product in the year through March 2024, data in the South African Reserve Bank’s Quarterly Bulletin published on Thursday showed. That matched the National Treasury’s February forecast.
