India employment provisionally grew at 6% in FY24 vs 3.2% in FY23, RBI data shows

According to a recent report by the Reserve Bank of India, India has provisionally created 46.7 million jobs in the fiscal year 2023/24, bringing the total employment in the country to 643.3 million. This marks a significant growth in employment as the country's employment growth rate increased to 6% in fiscal 2024.

Consumers suffer as retail prices of vegetables remain steadily high

Retail prices for vegetables, eggs, and poultry meat remain high in Kolkata markets, causing suffering for the common man. Tomato prices have soared to Rs 80-100 per kg from Rs 45-50 a month ago, while Brinjal is selling for Rs 110-140 per kg, a jump of nearly 150 per cent from early June, greengrocers in several markets in the city said. Budget 2024: EEPC urges revival of interest subvention scheme for exporters

The Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC India) has urged the government to revive the interest subvention scheme for exporters in its pre-budget recommendations. EEPC India Chairman Arun Kumar Garodia emphasised the scheme's importance, especially with rising interest rates. He called for restoring the three per cent subvention rate for specific tariff lines and a 5 per cent rate for MSME exporters across all product categories.
