The Centre will implement e-office in attached, subordinate offices, and autonomous bodies as per DARPG's 100-day agenda. Following a successful pilot with 37 lakh files in the central secretariat by 2024, 133 offices are identified. NIC, led by Rachna Srivastava, will manage technical aspects. HRIDC to conduct feasibility study for Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor

The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) announced plans to conduct a feasibility study for the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC) project. Spanning 135 km, the corridor will parallel the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, linking Palwal in Haryana to Sonipat via Ghaziabad, Noida, and Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. The project, primarily under Uttar Pradesh jurisdiction with 90 km, and 45 km in Haryana, was initiated by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Manufacturing output down 0.6% y/y in May

Manufacturing production decreased by 0.6% in May, compared with May 2023. Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) reports that the basic iron and steel, nonferrous metal products and machinery and motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment divisions had made the largest negative contributions, at 1.8 percentage points and 1.2 percentage points, respectively.

This climate tech startup wants to capture carbon and help data centers cool down

Data centers are a growing climate problem, especially as all the energy needed to train AI models inflates tech companies’ carbon footprints. A startup that spun out of Google’s “moonshot factory” X says its technology can provide a potential solution. It can pull carbon dioxide out of the air, run partially on servers’ waste heat, and even generate water to help cool a data center more efficiently.
