Govt to decide on sugar MSP hike in coming days: Food Secy

Union Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra indicated that the government may soon decide on increasing the minimum selling price (MSP) of sugar. The MSP has been stagnant at Rs 31 per kg since 2019, despite rising costs for sugarcane farmers. Industry groups have called for an increase to at least Rs 42 per kg to support mills.
