HPCL Q1 result: PAT down 90% at Rs 633.94 cr as refining, fuel margin fall

State-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) on Monday reported a massive 90 per cent drop in net profit in the June quarter, as refinery margins fell and a fuel price reduction slashed marketing margins. HPCL reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 633.94 crore in April-June -- the first quarter of the current 2024-25 fiscal year -- compared to a profit of Rs 6,765.50 crore a year back, according to a stock exchange filing by the company. New study simulates gravitational waves from failing warp drive

APSC cash-for-job scam: Former chairman awarded 14 years in jail, Rs 2 lakh penalty

The Court of Special Judge in Guwahati handed down verdicts in the APSC cash-for-job scam. It sentenced former chairman Rakesh Paul to 14 years in prison and a Rs. 2 lakh fine, with former members Basanta Kumar Doley and Samedur Rahman receiving 10-year jail terms. Additionally, 29 candidates involved in the scandal were given 4-year prison sentences and fined Rs. 10,000 each.
