Veg thali price rises 11% in July due to high tomato prices

The cost of a vegetable thali in Mumbai increased by 11% in July 2024 compared to June, reaching Rs 32.6 per plate, mainly due to higher tomato prices. Prices for non-veg thali also rose by 6% to Rs 61.4 per plate. Year-over-year, veg thali costs decreased by 4%, despite higher onion and potato prices.

Banks write off loans worth Rs 9.90 trillion in last 5 years: Govt in RS

Banks have written off loans worth Rs 9.90 lakh crore in the last five financial years, Parliament was informed on Tuesday. During 2023-24, banks loan write off was at Rs 1.70 lakh crore, as against Rs 2.08 lakh crore in the previous fiscal, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
