Ministerial criticism on banks should be backed by evidence, urges Mavuso

Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) CEO Busi Mavuso has expressed concern about a press conference held by Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi last month, saying the Minister misguidedly attacked some of the country’s banks. Kubayi communicated government’s plans to introduce changes to housing finance laws to compel financial institutions to disclose more information about their lending practices, including data on home loans granted and declined.

Tamil Nadu conversion activities 'worrisome', will be taken seriously, says RSS

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has raised concerns over reported conversion activities by missionaries in Tamil Nadu. During the three-day Samanway Baithak conclave, RSS leaders discussed the issue and stated that further details will be gathered from the ground. The activities were described as very worrisome by Sunil Ambekar, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh.

Sir Ian McKellen Opens Up About 'Emotional' Side Of Recovery After Falling Off Stage

Sir Ian McKellen has opened up about his recovery after a fall forced him to pull out of a touring production earlier in the summer.

The 85-year-old six-time Olivier winner sustained several injuries when he fell from the stage while performing in London’s West End back in June.

“I’m left feeling weak physically, which I’m doing exercises for,” Sir Ian told The Big Issue. “And, of course, it’s emotional.”
