Indonesia's dwindling middle class seen dimming economic outlook 

KARAWANG, Indonesia — Rahmat Hidayat lost his job when the shoe factory he worked for closed down last year in the industrial town of Karawang in Indonesia's West Java.   The 44-year-old now earns less than half of what he used to make by selling grilled meatballs. Unable to afford his wife's diabetes medication, Rahmat picks herbs to make a tonic instead.  Like Rahmat, millions of working to middle class Indonesians have become poorer, largely due to an increase in layoffs and a drop in the number of job opportunities since the pandemic. Adani Ports & SEZ to develop multipurpose berth at Gujarat's Kandla Port

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone signed a concession agreement to develop Berth No. 13 at Deendayal Port in Kandla, Gujarat. The berth will handle multipurpose cargo and is expected to be operational by FY27. This development will enhance APSEZ's capabilities on the western coast and service customers in Gujarat and north India.

Sensex plunges 398 points, Nifty breaches 25K on rate cut fears; bank, metal, auto stocks hammered

Indian equity benchmark indices ended lower on Wednesday in a volatile session, impacted by declines in auto, metal, and banking stocks. The BSE Sensex fell 398 points to close at 81,523, while the NSE Nifty dropped 122 points to settle at 24,918. The market capitalisation of all listed companies on BSE declined by Rs 2.47 lakh crore to Rs 461.02 lakh crore.
