Archaeologists use metabolites in bones to identify smokers from centuries ago

A team of archaeologists and historians at the University of Leicester used metabolites found in bones from people who lived hundreds of years ago to determine if they had been smokers. In their study published in the journal Science Advances, the group used a new technique to identify smokers who lived in 18th-century England.

Tartu 2024 to conclude with solo exhibition and concert by Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda

On November 2, a solo exhibition by the acclaimed Japanese artist and composer Ryoji Ikeda, for which the artist will create two new work, is set to open at the Estonian National Museum (ERM). The opening will be followed by a unique concert, featuring the world premiere of a joint composition by Ryoji Ikeda and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste.

NHSRCL invites bids for bullet train's track construction work in Maharashtra

NHSRCL has invited bids from Indian and Japanese companies for the design, supply, and construction of tracks for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project in Maharashtra. The track will be 314 km long, and this marks the last track construction contract for the project. Technical bids will be opened on February 3, 2025.

144 candidates paid to get leaked NEET-UG 2024 question paper: CBI

The CBI has identified 144 candidates who had allegedly paid to get NEET-UG leaked and solved papers hours before they were to take the examination for admissions in medical colleges, officials said on Monday. In its third charge sheet filed last week, the CBI has named Pankaj Kumar who stole the papers from Oasis school in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand in collusion with its Principal Ahsanul Haque and Vice-Principal Md Imtiyaz Alam, they said.
