All companies, schools to hoist Karnataka flag on Nov 1: DK Shivakumar

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday said Kannada flag should be hoisted compulsorily at all educational institutions, businesses and factories, including those operating in the information technology and biotechnology sector, in Bengaluru on November one, the state's formation day. He said about 50 per cent of people residing in the city and Bengaluru Urban district are from other states, and they should also give priority to learn Kannada. Iran's Oil Exports: On a Slow Boat to Nowhere

Iran's crude oil exports have dramatically slowed in October as the country braces for possible retaliation following its October 1 missile attack on Israel. With Israeli strikes on Iranian oil facilities a topic of discussion, Iran's exports dropped to around 600,000 barrels per day in the first 10 days of the month—about a third of recent months' volumes. After Police Shootings, Pashtun Rights 'Jirga' Begins In Pakistan

Tens of thousands of ethnic Pashtuns attended the beginning of a three-day Jirga or grand assembly on October 11 near Peshawar in northwest Pakistan. The meeting was called by the nonviolent PTM, or Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, to advocate for Pashtun rights. Four PTM members have died after police shot at them on October 9 as they tried to clear the Jirga venue.
