An efficient real-time signal processing method for satellite laser ranging

by Jinyu Wang, Wei Zhu, Weiming Gong

In recent years, various real-time processing methods have been developed for Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) data. However, the recognition rate of the single-stage Graz filtering algorithm for high-orbit satellites is less than 1%, and traditional two-stage filtering algorithms, such as polynomial fitting and iterative filtering techniques, exhibit high false and missed detection rates. These issues compromise the accuracy of laser positioning and real-time adjustments during observations. Читать дальше...

Binocular contributions to motion detection and motion discrimination during locomotion

by Hongyi Guo, Robert S. Allison

During locomotion, the visual system can factor out the motion component caused by observer locomotion from the complex target flow vector to obtain the world-relative target motion. This process, which has been termed flow parsing, is known to be incomplete, but viewing with both eyes could potentially aid in this task. Binocular disparity and binocular summation could both improve performance when viewing with both eyes. To separate the binocular disparity... Читать дальше...

Cost stickiness, absorbed slack and enterprise risks: Evidence from China

by Qian Binhua, Yang Boyuan

This study delves into the complex domain of enterprise finance to explore the relationship between cost stickiness and enterprise risks, with a particular emphasis on the role of absorbed slack. Our analysis is based on a comprehensive examination of 3,177 Chinese listed enterprises over a period of ten years, from 2007 to 2022. The findings reveal that cost stickiness is a widespread phenomenon among Chinese listed enterprises, exhibiting variation across different industries. Читать дальше...

Ambient pollution at hip fracture units and impact on mortality and post-operative delirium: A hormetic effect?

by Chika Edward Uzoigwe, Rana Muhammad Anss Bin Qadir, Ahmed Daoub

There is increasing awareness of the deleterious effects of ambient pollution. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recently advocated new safe limits of annual exposure for the three pre-dominant pollutants: fine particulate matter (PM2.5), coarse particulate matter (PM10) and nitrogen dioxide; namely 5μg/m3, 15μg/m3 and 10gμ/m3 respectively. Both the USA and UK have recently implemented news standards which are lower than their current values... Читать дальше...

Predicting women’s career decisiveness in the ICT sector: A serial multiple mediation model among MIS students

by Nuray Akar, Tayfun Yörük, Ömür Tosun

This study explores the factors that influence women’s career decisions in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector, as perceived by women Management Information Systems (MIS) students. It examines how career optimism (CO) and perceived employability (PE) affect the link between irrational beliefs about employment (IB) and career decisiveness (CD). The study involved 232 female students from ICT-related programs in Turkey. Data were... Читать дальше...
