The tiny village is home to around 1,000 locals.

However, it was named one of the prettiest UK villages last year by The Times, thanks to its medieval square and quaint old buildings.

Previous tourists have raved about it too – person called it the “prettiest village in Kent” while another said it was “like a postcard”.

It’s even been used to film A Canterbury Tale and Emma as well as Miss Marple.

The main attraction is Chilham Castle, and while you can’t visit the castle itself, the gardens open in the summer months on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Along with private hire, you can also book experiences such as wine-tasting and overnight stays.

Other attractions include The Church Mouse Tea Rooms, perfect for afternoon tea, as well as The White Horse Inn pub and Badger’s Hill Farm shop and garden centre.

If you fancy staying, one of the most popular places in the area is the Woolpack Hotel, dating back 600 years.

It reopened back in November after a big refurbishment, upgrading the rooms and menu.

Along with 14 hotel rooms it also serves a range of food at the pub including Japanese dumplings, Thai fishcakes and Mexican nachos, as well as a range of burgers, sandwiches and grill options.

A wine bar also opened in December, called the Tudor Peacock, which only serves alcohol made in Kent.

Despite being a small village, it has it’s own train station with two trains an hour, each one to and from London.

Brits can get to London Bridge in just 1hr45.

It’s not the only village in Kent that has been raved about.

Just down the road is Wye, named one of the best places to live with a 400-year-old riverside pub.

Also dubbed a “super village” it is also popular with walkers, being in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Beauty.

There is also Ightham, which is said to have one of the best pubs in the country as well as said to be one of the poshest villages.
