Sports briefs: Marin schools claim four BAC track titles

San Domenico's Omar Williams and Chidera Onyeukwu, Marin Academy's Juliet Reichardt, plus San Domenico's girls 4x800 relay team took home first-place medals from the Bay Area Conference Track and Field Championships on Saturday. 

San Domenico’s Omar Williams and Chidera Onyeukwu, Marin Academy’s Juliet Reichardt, plus San Domenico’s girls 4×800 relay team took home first-place medals from the Bay Area Conference Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

Williams competed in both hurdles events, winning the 300 in a personal-record time of 43.13 seconds and placing second in the 100 in 17.23 seconds.

Onyeuwku won the high jump event with a PR of 5 feet, 10 inches. San Domenico’s 4×800 team (Quinn Joyce, Katherine Rogers, Paloma Strutz, and Tosia Konczak) were victorious in a time of 10:39.92.

MA’s Reichardt was the winner in the girls high jump, clearing 4 feet, 10 inches.

San Domenico had a few other athletes turn in top-three finishes. Joaquin Foster finished second in the boys 800 (1:58.85) and placed third in the 1,600 (4:21.89, PR). Devin Price was third in the 3,200 (9:36.38, PR) and placed sixth in the 1,600 (4:27.57, PR).

On the girls side, Petra Betti placed fourth in the shot put (29′,2″), fourth in the 200 (26.93, PR), and sixth in the 100 (13.19).

Marin Academy’s other top finishers were Daniel May placing fourth in the boys 400 (52.67, PR); Luella Shepard seventh in the girls 1,600 (5:23.90, PR) and seventh in the 3,200 (11:41.02, PR); Callie Zimmerman fourth in girls 100 hurdles (17.97); Esme Morrison fourth in girls high jump (4′,6″); Max Dutro fourth in boys shut put (37′,00″, PR); Grace Bramble third in the girls long jump (14′,8.75″, PR) and Gabi Gongoria-Moriarty also third in the girls long jump (14′,8.75″, PR).
