Amsterdam pizzeria under new ownership

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Slice of Amsterdam, located at 189 Market Street in Amsterdam, has new owners. The pizzeria is now owned by husband and wife duo Kanisha and Maurice Conyers, along with friends Tyler Lopez and Anthony Blazquez.

Previous owners Brent and Corey Yager had owned the pizzeria for about three years. Originally called Southside Slice, the Yagers moved the pizzeria from 68 Bridge Street to 189 Market Street and reopened in the new space in November.

The Yagers own Drifter’s and What-A-Bargain in Amsterdam. In October, they told NEWS10 they were also planning on opening up a live music venue in Amsterdam.

The Conyers are residents of Schenectady, with their friends living in Amsterdam. Both Kanisha and Maurice Conyers are already business owners, with Kanisha owning KCTouch Essentials in Schenectady, and Maurice owning Clubhouse Clothing.

Kanisha Conyers said they had stooped into Slice of Amsterdam previously and talked to the Yagers, who said they were looking to find new owners, as they had their hands full with other businesses.

"We're just trying to bring something new to eat out here," said Kanisha Conyers. "Pizza, obviously, is always going to be pizza, but we're updating the menu, trying some new stuff."

The menu will still have pizza, wings, salads, and subs, but with new recipes. Kanisha Conyers said they are looking to add a few more things to the menu and are talking to residents to see what those might be.

"We're just excited to be here," said Conyers. Slice of Amsterdam's new hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
