The first Monday of  May is here, which means that it's officially time for the 2024 Met Gala. We've compiled everything you need to know about the event, including who will be in attendance and where to watch a free Met Gala red carpet live stream.

Hosted annually by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and a slew of high-ranking cultural figures, the Met Gala has become one of the season's glitziest and most exclusive events, often referred to as the Fashion Oscars. Tickets to the event reportedly go for about $30,000 a piece, and that's only after you've been invited by Wintour.

This year's theme is "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" with a "The Garden of Time" dress code. Attendees dress to impress and often interpret the themed dress code in creative ways. Memorable past themes include 2018's "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" and 2019's "Camp: Notes on Fashion," both of which received their fair share of criticism and attention.

We've got you covered if you're hoping to catch a glimpse of the Met Gala. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about tuning in. Plus, we have details on who you can expect to see tonight (and which global pop star might be missing).

Where to watch the Met Gala in the US

The Met Gala will live stream exclusively through Vogue. Starting at 6 p.m. ET, the fashion magazine will stream the red-carpet arrivals. You can catch the live stream through Vogue's YouTube and TikTok accounts, as well as through the publication's website itself. The red carpet typically lasts for several hours (with most guests arriving by 8 p.m. ET, but some A-listers get there even later). No live streams or public coverage are available for the famously secretive event itself, which is held inside the Met.

Gwendoline Christine, La La Anthony, and Ashley Graham will host this year's live stream. Influencer-turned-coffee-mogul Emma Chamberlain will return as Vogue's special correspondent, who will be tasked with interviewing the celebs as they arrive.

E! will also be covering the event starting at 6 p.m. ET. Ross Mathews will conduct interviews for the network. If you don't have cable, you can live stream E! via live TV packages like Sling TV and Hulu + Live TV. For Sling TV you'll need to select Sling Blue to access E!, which is available for $40 a month (with $20 off your first month). Hulu + Live TV costs $76.99 a month and comes with a three-day free trial. Plus, you'll get Disney+, ESPN+, and regular Hulu bundled in.

Where to watch the Met Gala in the UK

Vogue's website, YouTube, and TikTok will also be your live streaming answer in several other countries, including the UK. It will be a bit later in England, but the bulk of the action is expected to take place from 11 p.m. BST to 1 a.m. BST (6 p.m. ET to 8 p.m. ET), so you can probably catch the action before bed.

How to watch the Met Gala from anywhere

You should be able to access these live streams from anywhere, but if you're traveling and, for some reason, unable to access these options, you can always try setting a VPN to a US location and streaming it that way. Our go-to pick is ExpressVPN, a beginner-friendly option with a 30-day money-back guarantee. You can check out our ExpressVPN review for full details.

Will Taylor Swift be at the Met Gala?

People are very curious as to whether Taylor Swift will make an appearance at the Met Gala. Previously a frequent flyer at the event, Swift hasn't attended since the semi-infamous 2016 gala. While conflicting reports have emerged on Swift's possible 2024 attendance, People reports that they've confirmed that Swift won't attend this year. This would have been a tight fit, considering that the European leg of the Eras Tour picks up on May 9 in France.

Who will be at the Met Gala?

While Swift likely won't be there, several other A-listers will be in attendance. In addition to Anna Wintour, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny will co-chair the evening. Other potential attendees could be hosts and sponsors, including Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew. While the guest list is famously kept tightly under wraps, you can usually expect to see at least a few members of the Kardashian-Jenner family. Rihanna is also a frequent attendee.

Note: The use of VPNs is illegal in certain countries, and using VPNs to access region-locked streaming content might constitute a breach of the terms of use for certain services. Insider does not endorse or condone the illegal use of VPNs.
