Man tries to lure child near playground in Harlem: NYPD

HARLEM, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A man attempted to lure a 7-year-old child to his house on Friday, April 19, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred near the Martin Luther King, Jr. Playground on Lenox Avenue at around 6:03 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The unidentified male approached the girl and claimed he was her father's friend, police said. He said he wanted to bring her to his house, according to officials.

The child screamed and ran away, police said.

The male fled on foot on Lenox Avenue before getting onto a Citi bike, according to the NYPD. Police describe him as approximately 40 to 50 years of age and 6'0'' tall.

He was last seen wearing a white baseball jersey, dark jeans, gray sneakers, a black face mask, an orange Du-rag, and a black hat, according to the police.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the unidentified suspect, who hasn’t been caught.
