You need to make $555K a year to buy Monica's apartment from ‘Friends’: Study

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – In reality, Monica from "Friends" would need to make $550,000 a year to live in her New York City apartment, according to a new study from The Robert Dekanski Team at RE/MAX. 

In an analysis of famous TV homes across the country, the real estate team found that Monica’s New York City apartment requires a steep annual salary for occupants -- though in the show, the apartment was rent-controlled and inherited from a grandparent.

It’s pricey, but not quite the top of the market when it comes to fictional New York City spots. 

The life of Roman Roy in “Succession” is the most lavish. His six-bedroom townhouse in Chelsea is worth $22.5 million, The Robert Dekanski Team found. 

In the world of “Gossip Girl,” it looks like Dan Humphrey’s humble means may not have been so humble after all. The Humphrey apartment in Williamsburg would require a minimum salary of $398,000 to own, according to the study. 

To live in the apartment from “Only Murderers in the Building,” The Belnord, you’d need to make nearly $848,000 a year. Apartments go for over $4 million at The Belnord. 

If you’re looking for more property, Tony Soprano’s home in Caldwell, New Jersey would require an annual salary of $307,000. 

TV homes are, as a whole, pretty pricey. The majority of homes analyzed would require salaries between $100,000 and $1 million to buy, including The OC and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. 

To calculate the fictional home prices, The Robert Dekanski Team found the average cost for a similarly-sized home in the area it's supposed to be located. Then, the agency used a 10% down payment and average mortgage payments to calculate the salary required.
