LASTMA HOSTS MANAGEMENT OF VIJU INDUSTRIES

To foster better collaborations with private sector organisations, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at its Office in Oshodi, played host to the management of Viju Industries Nigeria Limited.

Welcoming the Viju team, Mr. Olalekan Bakare Oki, General Manager of LASTMA stated that the Agency was established in 2000 by the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the primary goal was to revolutionise transportation in Lagos State while ensuring smooth traffic flow and minimising road incidents.

Mr. Bakare Oki highlighted the ongoing challenge of traffic congestion in Lagos, spurred by the city’s daily influx of people. He underscored that LASTMA operates within the framework of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018, focusing on efficient traffic management to propel socio-economic development in Lagos.

Addressing the issue of illegal parking, Mr. Bakare Oki urged Viju Industries Nigeria Limited to address the parking of their trucks on Oba Akran Avenue which disrupts traffic flow and inconveniences motorists.

He stressed the importance of training drivers to adapt to evolving traffic management technologies, such as the new Traffic Management Solutions (TMS) devices provided by the government to LASTMA operatives.

Mr. Jonathan Ogbone, the Manager of Human Resources at Viju Industries Nigeria Limited expressed the company’s commitment to fostering a positive relationship with LASTMA. He acknowledged the Agency’s enforcement efforts to impound illegally parked trucks, clarifying that not all trucks around their company premises belonged to Viju Industries.

The courtesy visit signifies a step towards strengthening cooperation between Viju Industries and LASTMA, with both parties aiming to enhance traffic management and contribute to a more efficient transportation system in Lagos State.
