In Murshidabad's Baharampur, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury faces Trinamool candidate Yusuf Pathan and BJP's Nirmal Chandra Saha. The fight has escalated into a personal battle between chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Chowdhury, who is against any compromise by the Congress with the Trinamool over seats. Trinamool has brought in Pathan, a Gujarati who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
